Description

Fully automated, the instrument enables rapid, accurate identification and susceptibility testing - Automated, standardized - User-friendly, SIL1-compatible VITEK® 2 PC software - Optimized workflow, reduced handling times and rapid results delivery Microbiology laboratories are playing an increasingly important role in today's pressing health challenges, such as multi-resistant bacteria (MRB). When it comes to combating infectious organisms, microbial identification (ID) and antibiotic susceptibility testing (AST) are key to gathering relevant information for targeted clinical responses and better patient care2. By combining an automated platform with a large database, the VITEK® 2 system delivers fast, accurate results. Its concept optimizes overall laboratory organization by limiting repetitive tasks, guaranteeing a higher level of safety, standardizing the process and improving turnaround time for results and their delivery. VITEK® 2 uses unitary antibiogram identification cards, the same size and format as playing cards. Ready to use, VITEK VITEK® 2 identification cards offer a wider range of available tests. VITEK® 2 can provide identification and antibiogram results in less than 5 hours. Intuitive interface Easy access to results thanks to multiple filters Bidirectional connection with SIL1 Automatic validation and transfer of preliminary results Operation Once the micro-organisms have been isolated, handling is as simple as standardizing the inoculum. The inoculum* is placed in the VITEK® 2 cassette of the Smart Carrier Station™, in which the VITEK® 2 card and sample are virtually linked. Once the cassette is loaded, the system manages the incubation and reading of each card without any further intervention. Facing a rapidly changing world Designed to meet the needs of every clinical laboratory, the VITEK® 2 system delivers accurate, reliable analyses that will help to rapidly select the most appropriate treatment. To help clinicians choose the most appropriate antibiotic therapy, the Advanced Expert System™, automatically validates all test results. It indicates when the results are ready, saving time and enabling the phenotype of precise bacterial resistance mechanisms to be obtained for each isolate tested, notably thanks to color indicators that facilitate antibiogram reading. To meet the ever-changing needs of bacteriology worldwide, VITEK® 2 software updates are regularly released via VILINK™ . They include: Updated critical concentrations of antibiotics Added resistance phenotypes for each bacterial species Improved resistance detection Standardization of rapid results reporting bioMérieux's Advanced Reporting Tool (bioART™) gives laboratories the ability to customize results reporting to optimize efficiency and standardization: Automatically transfer relevant results to the laboratory information system (LIS) or MYLA®. Faster management of critical results thanks to personalized alerts Reinforced standardization by integrating bioART™ rules into current laboratory procedures.
